What information is needed to start a custom membrane switch project?
Send a drawing (PDF, DXF, AI or CAD), your artwork or key legend, the required tactile feel, connector or tail type, operating environment (temperature, moisture, chemicals), whether backlighting or a metal dome array is needed, and your estimated annual quantity. Our engineers will review manufacturability and propose a layer stack-up.
Should I choose a PET or PC graphic overlay?
PET overlays offer excellent flex life and chemical resistance, making them the common choice for keys that are pressed frequently. PC (polycarbonate) overlays are easy to emboss and form, and give crisp print and clear windows, which suits decorative panels and display windows. Both are available in glossy, matte or textured finishes.
Which metal dome types do you produce?
We produce 4-leg cross-shaped domes (with or without dimple, for example 8.4 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm), round domes and triangular snap domes in stainless steel with nickel or gold plating options. Domes can be supplied loose or pre-assembled as metal dome arrays on adhesive carrier film.
How is product quality controlled?
Production runs under an ISO 9001 quality management system and the factory has been verified onsite by SGS Group. Inspection uses CCD vision inspection, electrical testing, dome load testing, high and low temperature cabinets, tension (peel) testing, tack testing and pencil hardness testing.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum quantities depend on the product: selected overlay keypads start from 10 pieces, most custom membrane switches from 100 pieces and metal domes from 1,000 pieces. Prototype samples are supported before mass production.
